Dear Committee

For 3 years now I have been Chairman of the Social Club and have tried to guide the club through some difficult financial times including cutting staff costs from £16,739 in 2005 to £8,951 in 2006 by introducing voluntary bar shifts. However, the Clubs finances have steadily got worse due to the fall of members using the Club, which has been pointed out on many occasion by the Treasurer of the club and by the Auditor at every A.G.M. Despite the Clubs financial situation and the hard work of the voluntary bar staff, the Treasurer has insisted to be paid a wage of £100 a month and was last paid in August of 2007. Since then, the wage has been accumulating and the Club now owes the Treasurer a staggering £1,000 to date. Due to this, and the fact that Committee decisions and minutes are being altered by certain members of the Committee outside of a Committee meeting and not to mention meetings being arranged without discussing it with the Chairman of the Club first. I would Also like to add that the finances of the club have not been provided in a detailed report at any Committee meeting and in light of this misinformation the Club recently had been put on stop by all our suppliers and no mention had been made by the Treasurer until Adnams refused to deliver.

The Club also recently took £8,500 over the Chris Boote Period of two weeks, this money has now all gone which is worrying, considering it was agreed that the Clubs bills would be paid off the week before the Chris Boote event, leaving the Club with no debt at all. This was done by using the money in the Clubs Savings Account.

Under these circumstances I feel I cannot carry on operating as Chairman of the Social Club and therefore resign with immediate effect.

Fowlmere Social Club is run by a committee that is formed by members of the Club. The club is situated within the Village Hall complex, which is located just off Pipers Close at the caravan park end of Fowlmere, the entrance is at Chrishall Road. The Club is a Free House but we use Adnams as our main brewery. There is normally something happening at least once a month things like Disco's, Karaoke, Ladies Nights, Race Nights and lots more.We also offer Darts and the only Pool Table in the village.
